B8 Terrace Review — Wednesday, September 5, 1990 Skeena Valley Something for everyone The Skeena Valley Fall Fair committee can relax in the knowledge of a job well done and a successful three-day week- end, September 1 to 3. The weather cooperated and crowds turned out for the last holiday of the summer season. The slight nip in the air, the oc- casional threatening clouds, brought the realization that fall was approaching and the boun- tiful harvest displayed in the Thornhill Community Hall was testimony. There was something for everyone, and the crowds spread across the well-maintained grounds. Sawdust spread thickly throughout the grounds kept the dust to a minimum. Ample parking, well-marked, was quick and efficient. Steady line-ups kept the concessions busy all day, and the many stands placed around the grounds meant that you did not have to go far from your event to replenish your ap- petite. Well-spaced portables ac- commodated children and others easily and quickly. The booths were filled with in- teresting products, the clowns were everywhere. And. no hawkers. The events overlapped and meshed. Saturday’s — special drawing cards were the tradi- tional exhibits in the Communi- ty Hall and the parade of animals and pets at the 4-H com- pound. Sunday’s special events added the attraction of a reviving Log- gers’ Sports, the Horse Show and the Stone Boat race. Adding spice to this day were the auc- tions of prize-winning provi- sions and livestock. The Horse Shows were a con- tinuing attraction throughout the Fair, culminating Monday with daylong events.
