Inc. urged a judge Tuesday to throw out a $500,000 damage

' award by a jury that found the company guilty of

fraudulently misleading Christine Craft when it hired her
for a television news co-anchor job.

. “Itis our contention that ne submissible case was made,”
said Donald Giffin in oral arguments before’ U. 8. District

Judge. Joseph Stevens:

“None of the evidence supports” the jury's finding, Giffin
‘said, ,

But Craft's lawyer, ‘Dennis Egan, told Stevens that
“under prevaling law, there was a submissible case made.”

Giffin asked Stevens fora directed verdict, under which
the jury’s verdict and damage award would be turned aside
and a finding in favor of Metromedia would be entered.
Stevens tock the request under advisement and safd he
would make a decision as quickly as, possible.

Craft ‘filed a $1.2-million lawsuit against Metromedia,

~ former owner of KMBC:TV in Kansas City, contending she

was demoted from the station's anchor desk in August, 1981,
