Nonfarm Use Appiication for A.L.R. Land.

RECOMMENDATION:

That City Council direct the Clerk's Office to forward this application
for nonfarm use of Lot 57 Block B6N Section 7 and 8 Plan 1033 to the
Agricultural Land Commission.

1) This application is to start.a greenhouse operation on the subject
property. The. proposal is similar to the other. operations in the
vicinity, in that plants will be located indoors and there will be
an element of local sales.

The proposal is being submitted to City Council for referral to the
Agricultural Land Commission. The referral. is because greenhouse
operations.do not constitute soil bound agriculture and consequently
do not require good farmland.

Notwithstanding the question of A.L:R. designation, this kind of use
is encouraged by the draft Community Plan as it.is an agriculturally
xelated industry.

In conclusion, this report is recommending support of the application, as
it is viewed as being in conformance with the intended use of the area by
both the Community Plan and the Agricultural Land Commission.
