THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT “CO BYLAW NO. 2063 [ A Bylaw to Provide for the Appointment, Oct 1 1984 Remuneration, Term, Functions, Duties, Powers and Immunities of Bylaw Enforcement Officers. The Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitiam, in open meeting assembled, enacts as follows: A Bylaw Enforcement. Officer or Officers for The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitiam may be appointed by Counc! from time to time, by resolution. A Bylaw Enforcement Officer is an employee of the City of Port Coquitiam and is subject to the col lective agreement In force from time to time between the City and its employees, and the remuneration and term of employment of a Bylaw Enforcement Officer shall be in accordance with the col lective agreement, provided that where no collective agreement is applicable, the remuneration and term of employment shal! be as determined by resolution of Council. A Bylaw Enforcement Officer shal perform the functions and duties specified in this Bylaw and in the job description for the position of Bylaw Enforcement Officer as the same may from time to time provide. A Bylaw Enforcement Officer 1s authorized to act on behalf of the City In all matters relating to the enforcement of bylaws, Including Investigation, service of documents, laying of Informations, and appearances In Court and is generally authorized to do those things required or permitted by !aw to be done tn order that the bylaws of the City may be enforced. A Bylaw Enforcement Officer may at all reasonable times enter on any property subject to the regulations of Counct!, to ascertain whether the regulations or directions of Council! are being observed. On observing any violation of a bylaw of the City the Bytaw Enforcement Officer may cause 4 ticket or information to be prepared and served and adequate records of alf such tickets or Informations shal! be maintained. A Bylaw Enforcement Officer may consult with and tnstruct the City Solicitor respecting the enforcement of City bylaws. A Bylaw Enforcement Officer shal! receive administrative direction from the City Clerk, subject to any directives of the officer In charge of the detachment of police operating In the City. The "Indemnification Bylaw, 1983, No. 2001" applies to a Bylaw Enforcement Officer. . A Bylaw Enforcement Officer shall take the oaths prescribed by the Police Act and the Municipal Act prior to the commencement of his duties.
