RECOMMENDATION: : Report of a fire damaged singte family buliding at 1884. Coquitlam Avenue, to be received for information only. ~ BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: os The existing building was a 21/2 storey home bullt over a property !ine separating two 33 foot lots. A fire caused extensive damage above the Ist fioor and basement area. The building has been boarded up since December 05, 1983 while the owner has been - negotiating a settlement with his Insurance company. Replacement of the non-conforming building Is only ‘permitted tf the existing foundation is in place. lf the owner. chooses complete demolition, the use of the fots must comply with current by laws. After investigation of the compiaints that the bullding. was a hazard | am concerned with the following Items: l'e. ‘Hazardous construction and debris above the main floor to be removed. 26 The first floor toad bearing members are to be structurally re-enforced to building code requirements. Contirm the adequacy of existing masonary chimney or remove same. The building must be kept safe and secure by the owner at all times. The owner was notified of these Items by letter on February 03, 1984 (letter attached).
