3. Dog Licencing By-law

Coquitlam, Port Moody, and Port Coquitlam have now all adopted By-laws
setting uniform licence fees for dog licences and pound’ fees, ete. This
was agreed to last year as the uniform rates would ensure that no one
municipality was subsidizing the $.P.C.A. operation by virtue of having
higher licence fees.

The present licence fees set a rate for unspayed females at $24.00 and any

spayed female or male dog is $6.00. The S.P.C.A. suggested that we might
consider charging the higher $24.00 for both unspayed females and unneutered

male dogs. This ties in with the S.P.C.A.'s Spay/Neuter Clinic programme.
Coquitlam and Port Moody, therefore, have adopted a $24.00 rate for unneutered
male dogs and similar action has been taken by Burnaby. I would recommend

that in order to keep the By~laws in uniformity that we adopt the $24.00 rate for
unneutered dogs in addition to unspayed female dogs.
