COUNG TO: Mayor and Council February 16th, 1973 FEB 19 197% FROM: LL.D. Polleck, City Administrator . Re: Resienation - Len Pekrul, Sewer Foreman I have been informed by the City Engineer that Vir. Len Pekrul, who is our Sewer Foreman, has tendered his resignation effective Mav 15th, 1973. Len has been with the City since February of 1952 - a total of twenty-one years. We ave, therefore, losing some very valuable experience and a very fine employee. The City has a policy of arranging a send-off for long-term employees and I have been asked by members of the Staff if a joint Staff-Council function could be arranged similar to the one held for Bob Urquhart on his retirement. The tentative date suggested for this function would be Saturday, May 26th, 1973 in the Mabbett Room of the Port Recreation Centre. If Council agrees with this proposal we will make the necessary arrange- ments. ° Re: Winter Capital Projects Fund The above-mentioned programme will be used to finance our Recreation Facilities Construction and perhaps the proposed storm sewer line and re- construction of Wellington Street. We received information on this financing programme in late January and at that time there was no indication of a dead- line for project submissions. We have now been advised that it has been nec~ essary to set a deadline and submissions mist be in Victoria by February 23rd, 1973. We will be preparing project applications for the Recreation Facilities and Wellington Street work from the best available information, and will be asking for a resolution of Council on Monday night, February 19th authorizing submission of the applications. If any members of Council have ideas for any other projects that may be submitted please let me know. Pia “ . ; a ~ City Administrator
