Joshua Smith received an automotive partsperson certificate, The two were among the nearly 9,000 students en- rolled in one of UCC's 50 certificate or 40 bachelors de- gree programs, Trinity trio THREE WOMEN from Terrace were part of Trinity Western University’s largest-ever graduating class this spring. Danielle Leighton, Crystal Ruchotzke and Liza Vande Velde graduated along with 400 other students, joining 15,000 alumni of the privately-funded, Langley, B.C. Christian university. All three earned bachelor degrees. Leighton’s is in business administration. Ruchotzke earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with great distinction, an accolade also awarded to Vande Velde for her Bachelor of Sci- ence in Math. Ruchotzke also received the university’s award for Christian nursing, recognizing her achievements in per- sonal and professional excellence — and for demonstra- ting compassion, wisdom and integrity in nursing. “Our students hold a deep commitment to be excel- lent clinicians who come alongside people in difficult times,” says one of Ruchotzke’s instructors, Dr. Sheryl Reimer Kirkham. Have a Heart TERRACE’S Big Brothers and Big Sisters program joins a nation-wide fundraising effort this week. From July 11-18, KFC restaurants across the country, including the one here, are offering Have a Heart stick- ers. For the price of a Loonie, customers can buy one of the stickers and have it placed up on the restaurant’s wall. All of the money raised will be donated to Big Bro- thers and Sisters.
