:._ Towing of Vehicles within City of Port Coquitlam

At your request, the undersigned did a complete check of both towing firms
within the City of Port Coquitlam.

1. Ridge Auto Towing ~ 2665 Bedford Street, Port Coquitlam (Light and Heavy

Towing). The owner, Mr. Danny Richardson, located hig business within the

City in July 1976 and moved all his equipmen

months. Mr. Richardson states he is doing

2. Coquitlam Towing is licenced anc has a Yard on Bedford Street that meets
all By-law requirements, however, Coquitlam Towing is located on Schoolhouse

Road in the District of Coquitlam and has all towing rights in the District

as well as the alternate month basis in Port Coquitlam. Their vehicles are on

24 hour call, similar to those of "Ridge Towing", however, the difference between
the two firms is that "Ridge Auto Towing" is located in Port Coquitlam entirely,
whereas "Coquitlam Towing" has only a Storage Yard on Bedford Street, but all
cars towed by their company are stored in Coquitlam.

From what I have seen of Mr. Richardson's towing operation, he seems well equipped
with 3 - One Ton Towing Trucks

1 - One & one-half Ton Towing Truck

1 -' Tandam double axle towing truck, all fully equipped

with radio, etc..

On the basis of what I have seen at this operation, I would suggest that the
Port Coquitlam R.C.M.P. Detachment and the City of Port Coquitlam use only
Mr. Richardson's towing firm (Ridge Auto Towing) for all towing within the
City and that those concerned, be so advised,

One other point I should make is that in the case of both firms, there is no
charges to the City for any calls to tow away abandoned wrecked vehicles (when
call is made by By-law Officer) and charges to owners of towed-away vehicles
(parking and/or other violations) are pursuant to the regulations in the
"Traffic Regulation By-law, 1971, No. 1117".
