/2. November 10th, 1975 CORRESPONDENCE & REPORTS FOR INFORMATION: Oct/75 Repert- From the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, November 7th, 1975, being RCMP the October, 1975 Municipal Policing Report. Alderman Traboulay noted that during the joint 5-month undercover drug operation between the Burnaby and Coquitlam Detachments, the work of one undercover operator resulted in a total of 79 trafficking charges filed against 41 people who are known to frequent both the Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam areas, and he proposed the following motion: Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That a letter of congratulations be sent to Inspector M. A. Young of the Coquitlam R.C.M.P. Detachment, for the work done during the joint 5~month undercover drug operation between the Burnaby and Coquitlam Detachments, in trying to reduce hard and soft drug trafficking in the Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam areas. Carried. Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That in view of the fact that the last radar unit was purchased by the City of Port Coquitlam, the Coquitlam R.C.M.P. Detachment be requested to inquire of the District of Coquitlam whether or not that municipality would be willing to purchase a ยป.adar gun. Carried. Oct/75 Report- From the Senior Building Inspector, being the October, 1975 report Bldg.Permits Issued of building permits issued. The report was received for information. Oct/75 Report- From the Senior By-law Officer, October 31st, 1975, being the Insp. Dept. October, 1975 report of the Inspection Department. Alderman Keryluk drew attention to items 6 and 7 of the Report wherein it was noted that charges of $1.00 and $50.00 levied against B & B Landscaping and Engine Enterprises Ltd., respectively, for polluting a City sewer with oil, and he suggested that even where the $50.00 fine would appear to be prohibitive, it was probably cheaper than the cost of paying to have the oil disposed of properly. Members of Council generally expressed concern that the court and clean-up costs are borne by the City in suci: instances, and Mayor Campbell agreed with the suggestion made that a letter be sent to the Department of the Attorney~General with respect to the fines levied, particularly the one in the amount of $1.00.
