Kids have all these problems and you keep say- ing "talk to your parents". Ha! Get real. Try it with mine sometime. Well if that's the case I’ve had it for 22 years and I’ve killed a lot of dogs in my time. For most kids there is NO communication with their pareni(s). I, as a parent of four kids, tend to forget sometimes that they have feelings too. But the fact is, build- ing good communications skills takes time and practice. It’s not something that happens overnight. On both sides of the fence, con- frontation is scary. We humans do not like to be told of the wrongs we do. Our tempers flare, denial is very strong, and hurtful things get said. So we avoid or run away from it. SO One way to communicate is through letters or notes. This way you don’t leave out a lot of things. Many feelings come out on paper and you don’t have to face the person or fear uncomfortable feeli- ngs. I'm glad you asked this question. I would like to get a teen group going so we can learn from each other how we can overcome this problem of teens communicating with us ancient ogres. If you or anyone else is interested in taking part in a group like this give me a call or write me a note and I'll see what I can arrange. It’s a big prob- lem in every family, town and city. Your contribution, suggestion or question can be sent to The Teen Page through any of the drop boxes in local schools, Danny’s Pool Hall, the swimming pool or the library. __ by Scott Wilson.
