MEMORANDUM C 0 Uh MAY TO: Mayor and Council May 12th, AY 4 \6 1977 FROM: Community Development Committee The Community Development Committee met with representatives of the newly formed 'Port Coquitlam Industrial Association on Wednesday, May 4th, 1977. Present were: Alderman L.M. Traboulay Alderman G.R. Laking and L.D. Pollock Representing the City; George Shaw and Wendell Kirk Representing the Industrial Association . Council may recall that this Association was formed recently by representatives of various companies in our industrial area to look after the interests of industry in the community. The Association stressed to the Committee, the need for action on the con- struction of the Mary Hill By-pass. Their representatives cited several instances where local industries are having difficulty with shipping from our present industrial area due to the restricted access through either the Red Bridge, the Kingsway Bridge, or the underpass in the Trenton Street area. It is felt that this is one of the greatest drawbacks in the future develcpment of our industrial area. The Association will be approaching both Port Moody and Coquitlam to obtain their support of the Mary Hill By-pass route and although Port Coguitlam City Council is officially on record as endorsing this route, the Association would like an official endorsement at this time so that they can prepare a brief to the Province of B.C. The Community Development Committee would endorse this request and ask that _Council pass a resolution again endorsing the Mary Hill By-pass route. LDP /w
