TIMBER SUPPLY AREA (TSA)

‘An analysis of the timber supply in the North Coast
timber supply area (TSA) has been rompeted b by the
BC Forest Service.

The North Coast TSA timber supply analysis
~ examined current forest land-use and management

of timber now and inthe future.

The analysis is the first of four reports to be
_ released. The others include: a socio-
~ economic analysis; a discussion paper for
public input; and the Chief Forester's
_ Allowable Annual Cut determination
and rationale.

This analysis is part of a threéy year timber
supply review which is examining all
TSAs in the province.

This work is located approximately 110 km north of Terrace
in the Nass Valley at the Gitswinksihlkw TR also known as
Canyon City. Most of the work in this area will be within the
lava beds which-are now protected by Park status. There is
no vehicle access across the Nass River except by barge
(seasonal).

The job involves three phasing the existing single phase line
for 13 spans; rebuilding the river crossing to H frame
structures with aircraft warning spheres; installing an
additional 2 spans of three phase primary with transformer
bank and underground service to new school. Included are
11 anchors (mostly rock) and 6 new pole sets and 1 pole
change.
