Plusieurs activités de rerutement ont été mises sur pied par l’ APE
et l’école dans le but d’augmenter la visibilité de l’école et de la
communauté. Tous ont participé a la parade de Noél qui a défilé
dans les rues du centre ville le 29 novembre dernier. Le méme
jour, les enfants ont aussi été invités a accueillir en chanson
Varrivée du Pére Noél au plus grand centre commercial de la
ville. Un succés sur toute la ligne. En partenariat avec le
programme anglophone, l’APE et l’école ont organisé un

Here in Kamloops we are pleased to announce that we have
managed to increase our student numbers by more than 45%
since the close of the last school year.

From 19 students in June 2003, we grew to 29 by September.
With the addition of 6 new students during the fall, the total
rose to 35. The program now comprises 7 levels from Kindergarten
to Grade 6. To accommodate this unexpected increase, the CSF
hired a third full-time teacher; however, our school space is
becoming quite cramped and there is no more room to expand.
As proof: the CSF request to the Kamloops School Board to
rent a third classroom was rejected due to lack of space.

Given our school’s rate of growth since inception and
considering our forecasts, our optimism, and confidence that
the parents, staff, and Kamloops Francophone community have
in the future of our school and our community, the 15 parents
present at the October 21, 2003, APE general meeting
unanimously passed a resolution to make an official request to
the CSF. They agreed to ask the board to take needed steps to
purchase a school and create a homogeneous Francophone

programme : La grande séduction et Gaz bar blues. Ouf !

school in Kamloops. The APE proposal was unanimously
approved at the CSF monthly board of directors meeting on
October 25, 2004, and I am pleased to announce that the CSF
has already initiated discussions with the Kamloops School
Board. More to follow...

The APE and the school have held numerous recruiting events
designed to increase the visibility of both the school and the
community. Everyone took part in the Christmas Parade that
wound through the downtown streets on November 29. That
same day, the children were also invited to the city’s largest
shopping centre to welcome Santa with song. This was a big
success from every point of view! In partnership with the
Anglophone program, the APE and the school organized a
carnival featuring bread pudding and winter games. In March,
the children will display their dancing prowess at a Sugaring-off
outing organized by the Association francophone de Kamloops.
Lastly, the school is cooperating with the Association
francophone to organize Kamloops’ first French language film
festival for next April. On the agenda: La grande séduction and
Gaz bar blues. Wow! Our plates are definitely full!

Notre nouveau directeur améne un vent de fraicheur a |’école.
Mr. Alain Laberge partage son temps entre nous et l’école de
Langley et nous appuyons grandement sa vision « les enfants
d’abord ! ». L-APE a aussi connu du changement en octobre
avec |’élection du nouveau comité de parents : Lara von
Waldenberg, Christian Girard, Caroline Odegard, Sylvie Roussel-
Janssens et moi-méme avons tout un défi a relever pour atteindre
nos objectifs avec, bien sir, la participation des parents de
l’école. La féte de l’Halloween fit une journée trés spéciale a
l’école avec le défilé des enfants en costume, la décoration de
citrouilles, la maison hantée (organisée par les 7°, 8° et 9° années),
sans oublié la dégustation de sucreries. Les enfants se sont

bien amusés et nous avons méme fait la une du journal local.
Décembre fut un mois trés chargé. II y eut d’abord I’élection du
Comité de Planification Scolaire, suivie par la participation des
jeunes et moins jeunes a la parade de Noél de la ville de Chilliwack
afin d’augmenter la visibilité des francophones dans la
communauté. Ensuite, l’organisation de la soirée de l’encan
silencieux (levée de fond) en conjonction avec le concert des
enfants. Les éléves nous ont vraiment montré leur talents cachés !
Pour couronner le tout, toute l’école a pu se régaler de crépes au
déjeuner de Noél lors du dernier jour d’école. Beaucoup de
parents sont venus avec leurs enfants et le Pere Noél s’est méme
montré le bout du nez malgré son horaire trés chargé. Le nouvel
