Alderman Mabbett stated that the Pantry Restaurant had catered the dinner and that the food was excellent and he had: received many compliments on the dinner, and that the Pantry Restaurant should be congratulated. From Meridian Arms Public House Ltd., July 10th, 1978 requesting ‘approval for an extension of operating hours for the neighbourhood pub at 3261 Coast Meridian Road, from 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights only. Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That as requested by Meridian Arms Public House Ltd., July 10th, 1978, approval be given for an extension of operating hours for the neighbourhood pub at 3261 Coast Meridian Road, fro: 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights only. Alderman Ranger voted against the resolution. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution a general discussion ensued and Mr. F. Traff, President of the Meridian Arms Public House Ltd., advised that the reason for asking for the extended hours before the pub was actually operating was due to the Liquor Control and Licensing Branch operating license requirements.
