Ms. MacLaine is what is known as a New Ager, a revival of ancient Babylonian and Egyptian religious concepts. New Age Music is also becom- ing the new fad through Liona Boyd, The Cosby Show and others. From a Christian point of view it is sad to see the New Age movement tak- ing over. I for one am not a believer in any Christian society. While others say that the Christian church has been running the world for the past few A collage of schoo! achievements printed in the Terrace ‘Review during 1986 gets special attention by Bill Sturn, prin- cipal of Caledonia Senior Secondary Schoot In Terrace. (Skip) Hollands, 1986. _— Skip came to the Ter- race area in 1945, after his discharge from. the Canadian Armed Forces. He was employed — by Dominion Government Telephone graph (DGTT) and was stationed at Rosswood, B.C. © . _ In 1947 Skip and his wife Sylvia moved to Terrace. When B.C. who passed away Dec. 20, ‘loving and Tele-. Telephone took. over the DGTT in the early ‘50’s, Skip stayed on until his retirement in 1981. To many early residents -he was known as ‘‘Mr. ‘Telephone’, He loved “the outdoors and was an. avid trapper, hunter and: fisherman. so ‘Skip is survived by his” Sylvia,. wife daughters Barbara and Lousie of Terrace, sons Doug of Port Hardy and Richard of Vancouver, -his father, Frank Hol- lands of Terrace, one brother Cecil of Powell ‘River and three grand- daughters, Holly, Heath- erand Crystal, thousand years, my view is that it has been the world that has been running the church, The main difference between the unsaved per- son and the born-from- above believer is that. the unsaved person is fighting his or her spiritual warfare at the subconscious level, while the - Christian is fighting at the conscious level. Once a person is aware that this warfare ex- ists between himself and the kingdom of darkness, he confesses Jesus as Je- hovah, Lord and Savior, and becomes redeemed. What the New Age movement is doing is bat- tling the forces of dark- ness through other occult forces; and as Jesus said, “Satan cannot cast out Satan — a kingdom divid- ed will not stand judge- ment.’’ Jesus’ message is that all people are fighting to reclaim the kingdom of heaven but only by accep- ting Him as the Second Person of the Trinity can one be truly liberated. In comparison to Man {male and female), Satan ‘is a very moral creature. He would make the Pope or Gandhi look like a degenerate. He thrives on self-righteousness, and _ whenever he preaches to the church he constantly convicts them of their sins. Thus the New Age movement appears to be a very moral development. The only ‘thing that separates the Christian saint from the unsaved sinner is the conscious knowledge of spiritual warfare. This drives the: Devil bonkers. He is con- stantly pointing out be- lievers to the unsaved and asking, ‘‘Do you want to be like them or do you want to be moral like’ me.’’ Since he flatters peo- ple's egos they would rather make that choice than become one of those _Insane fundamentalists. Sin has never been an issue with God, however, the message of the church has always been salvation. If there’s any legalism in the church it is because the Devil has planted it there because he knows it is im- possible for any human being to reach spiritual perfection in this life. New Agers teach, we are justified by our humanity, -sanctified by reincarnation and purified by karma — which is the spiritual evolution to- wards nirvana. Modern science teaches the theory of evolution which is real- ly a revival of Babylonian and Egyptian paganism. Few know that in those ancient days people believ- ed that only time and space were eternal and all life is relative to their dimensions. The Bible says there is nothing new under the sun; and that the Babylonian Empire would be ‘‘reincarnated’’ at the end of the Church Age in 1948, and would produce a world class leader who would event- ually establish himself as a _New Age Master upon the planet. Carnal Christians will argue this point, failing to understand that the term “new age’’ was applied to the separation from an- cient Israel by the early church. In 70 A.D. the Christian era was - pro- phesied by Paul as the “(New Age.’’ The present New Age movement is in- tended to replace the defunct Christian era with new forms of spiritualism . and worship. It is anti- christian in. nature. Any world class leader who comes out of this world- wide movement, which is quickly replacing com- -. munism as a global system today, will be decidedly antichristian. a _ As Bob Dylan frequent- — ly sings, ‘“‘Are you ready for Armageddon,” which will be a product of this ‘man of peace.” Brian Gregg ' Terrace, B.C, :
