Friends reminisce at farewell party TERRACE — Members of the Terrace Badmin- ton Club, current and past, gathered at the Anderson’s on June 14 to say ‘‘Thanks’’ to Sherry Anderson for all she has done for badmin- ton in the area and wish her and family well in their move to Ladner. A barbecue had been arranged and with hus- band Dev’s help, club members were able to be on hand to. surprise Sherry when she return- ed home from visiting friends. Although it was raining the club members were able to enjoy the good food and company, reminiscing with members from previous years and visiting with Sherry and her family. At the time, badminton .was played in the old Civic Centre. The club moved to Skeena School and then to Thornhill Junior Secondary where it presently plays. To commemorate the hours spent in promoting and playing badminton in the area the club presented to Sherry the ‘Sherry Anderson Achievement Award’’ which will be given to a Terrace Badminton Club member each year to acknowledge achieve- ment in the sport. Guests present also gave Sherry two pieces of luggage in the hope she would be travelling back to the area for tournaments. The club also said farewell to another member, Jennifer Eastwood, who is mov- ing to Smithers and presented her with a thermal mat. Local bad- minton players are sure they will be seeing Jen- nifer at the area tour- naments, Badminton Club members kept dry during the recent barbecue to say farewell to Sherry Anderson and Jennifer Eastwood. TERRACE — Skeena Bridge was closed daily on Wednesday and Thursday of last week for a general clean up. Ken Rensby, district technician for the Bridge closed Ministry of Transporta- tion and Highways said some deck planks loosened with the- high number of traffic on the bridge. ‘‘We had to renail these planks and therefore it was necessary to close the bridge for those two days.”’ Skeena Bridge was re- opened on Friday, June 20.
