For Secretary -Treasurer FRED FIEBER An active member of Local 1-357, |WA, New Westminster, Fred Fieber was appointed International Organizer in February, 1948. He was Financial Secretary of Local 1-71, IWA, the Loggers’ Local from 1949 to 1960. : He was elected District 3rd Vice-President in 1951, and was re- elected in 1953, 1955, 1957, 1959 and 1960. He was appointed the Regional Secretary-Treasurer in 1961 following the death of the former Secretary-Treasurer George Mit- chell, and has been re-elected to this office ever since. He is one of the Union Trustees on the IWA Forest Industry Health and Welfare Plan. He is also a past President of the Board of the Medical Services Association He served for many years continuously on the Regional Negotiating Committee. For International Board Member BILL SCHUMAKER The long-time President of Local 1-423 IWA Kelowna, Bill Schumaker now holds the post of International Board Member. He is highly active in Union affairs in the Interior and much sought after as” a union nominee on arbitration boards. He was the Secretary of the Southern Interior Negotiating Committee during the last two sets of negotiations. For Int’) Board Member DOUG EVANS of Canada (old Western Plywoods) for a period of three years. After a two year stint in the interior, working in mills and on the railroad, he re-joined the IWA in 1955 when he became employed at Evans Products. ; He immediately became active as a shop steward, and was elected to the plant committee in 1958. He became plant chairman in 1962, which position he held for three years before becoming a full- time officer for the Local Union, in 1964. He was appointed Conductor of the Local in 1963; was elected as Recording Secretary in 1964. In 1965 he was appointed Financial Secretary which position he still holds. He has been a strong voice in all major conventions in the past few years; a delegate to the Vancouver Labour Council for many years. ls an active member of the NDP and has worked in provincial, federal and civic elections. He was appointed a member of the Burnaby Advisory Planning Commission in 1968. Doug was elected as the Alternate Executive Board Member by the 1971 Regional Convention. For Alternate International Board Member MAX SALTER First joined the IWA in 1949 while employed at his trade of Courtenay area, employed by Crown Zellerbach. Was hired by Local 1-363 as a Business Agent in 1961 and elected as President of the Local Union the same year. Has continued to hold the position since that time. Doug Evans joined the IWA in 1949 while working at Weldwood ~ electrician at B.C. Forest Products, Youbou. In 1957 went to the - For Secretary-Treasurer WELDON JUBENVILLE Upon joining the IWA in 1946, he immediately became active in the Unionand served on camp committees continuously until elected as President of Local 1-80 in 1961. He is presently serving his tenth consecutive year as President and Regional Executive Board Member of Local 1-80. At present, he is also Secretary of the Coast Negotiating Committee. For International Board Member MURRAY DREW 3 Murray became a member of the IWA in 1956 when he joined Local 1-118 Victoria while working at the Victoria Plywood plant. In 1960 he was elected Plant Chairman at the Victoria Plywood and in 1961 was elected Third Vice-President of Local 1-118. He was elected First Vice-President of Local 1-118 in 1962 and then assumed the presidency. He has been re-elected to that office since 1963. He attended the Labour College of Canada in Montreal in 1963 and graduated with distinction. For International Board Member EARL FOXCROFT President of Local 1-85 IWA Port Alberni, Earl Foxcroft has been elected an officer of that Local since 1964. Prior to that he held the position of Local Executive Board Member representing the Somass Mill. He was also Chairman of Local 1-85’s Political Action Committee and a member of the District School Board. For Alternate International Board Member MARGE STORM Marge Storm has been an IWA member for 26 years and an active Committee member for almost that long. She has served as a Plant Committee member and also a Local Union Officer. She is, at Geek Recording Secretary of the New Westminster Local Union, 1- __ Marge Storm has always been a defender of minority rights within and outside of the Union. She has represented her plant and Local Union at numerous Conventions, Women's Conferences and Labour Council meetings for a number of years. For Trustee ERIK WOOD f Presently employed as Financial Secretary and Business Agent in the Haney Local (1-367) a position he has held for the past four years. Has held various positions in the IWA over the years from camp chairman to Local Officer in most of the Coast Local Unions during his 18 years in the IWA and Forest Industry. Brother Wood has spent 15 years as a logger prior to working for his Local Union, the section of the Industry he entered after complet- ing high school in the Upper Fraser Valley. A married man with two teen age daughters has an extensive background in making financia! decisions having served four years as a Financial Secretary of a Local Union and 4% years as a Director of the Community Credit Union. : Now 38 years old he combines both the qualities of youth and experi- ence in his candidacy for 6-Year Trustee. For Trustee E. W. HAW First joined the IWA in 1938. Was out of the industry for several years, and then returned. Was employed in 1949 as an Organizer for the International Union and worked at that for two years. Was Business Agent and Financial Secretary for Local 1-118 from 1952 to 1969. Now on leave of absence from B.C. Forest Products because of a back ailment.
