path of spaceships has now
obviously been mastered and
shows a very high accuracy in
the control of breaking rock-
ets and the computor control
of the trajectory to earth.

In orbit the spaceship must
have travelled at over 17,000
mph and the successful soft
landing probably reduced this
to about 17 mph.

SANTIAGO, Chile — Final
results in the Chilean general
election have given the Com-
munist Party a total of 20
seats, four in the Senate and
16 in the Chamber of Depu-
ties.

The Popular Action Front,
which includes Communisis
and Socialists, now holds 13
out of 45 seats in the Senate
and 41 out of 147 seats in the
Chamber of Deputies. It was
the first time the Communists

took part since 1948, in which _

year it was outlawed.

Congress Vice-President Stan-
ley Knowles called for the in-
tegration of the economies of
Canada and the United States.

flatly that the integration is

Yet he had the gall to say
that the New Party advocates
a Canadian identity that will
mean. something. Perhaps. he
thinks that becoming second-
class, - exploited Americans
will alleviate our crisis.

He then went on a red-
baiting spree. He said there is
no room in the New Party for
“Communist supporters.”

Knowles made a big display
of. his .anti-Communism right
after Tim Buck again said that
the Communists . support the

New Party. Buck . said this
during the same weekend,
while addressing some 50
friends. at a private home in
Sydney after the owners of a
meeting hall reneged on their
commitment ‘to rent the pre-
mises to the party.

The big-business shine was
apparent “when ‘Knowles Said
that Buck speaks for a small
group in this country which
does not believe in the demo-
cratic process—although actu-
ally the Communist Party has
by far the most democratic
constitution. of any :Canadian
party.

carping by saying that he be-
lieves union leaders will at-
tempt to keep Communism in
Cape Breton at a “low level.’

Both New Party factions
are well-aware that the-party
has been on record as sup-
porting their movement ever
since the idea was first moét-
ed.

Apparently, the monopoly
press found out. about this
position only through attend-
ing Tim. Buck’s popular birth-
day celebrations across the
country. Now these right-wing
leaders, accustomed to wear-
ing anti-Communist blinders,
are attempting to tarbrush the
New. Party because of this
support.
