Fol- lowing dinner, a number of awards were made. One went to Hugh Power — because of his lifetime, grey, crew cut hair style, a Paul Bunyun comb. Another was pre- sented to Olga Power, “for putting up with Hugh: for so long, a bouquet of flowers. To several of the girls — pantyhose for their greatly shaped legs; to Dan McCabe (one of the hunks) a box of crackers; to John McFarland (be- cause he’s so handsome and has never aged) — a book on growing older. To the Dutch committee; Berta Troelstra and Lin- da Contant — two wind- mills. To Jit Sandhu, a pair of pink flamingos, for his lawn. There was some enter- tainment after dinner; Dan McCabe is a juggler — has been for the past 4 and a half years. He travelled throughout Europe, Canada and the States, performing and he brought a lot of smiles and laughter throughout his entertainment. By 9 p.m, the dancing began. It started off great with a modern rock and roll. Couples were swinging and jiving to the old tunes and twistin’ with good old Chubby Checker. All that was missing was the bobby socks, puffy hairdos, long skirts, baggy pants and horn rimmed glasses.
