City Engineer SUBJECT: TEMPORARY BUS TURN-AROUND - CITADEL HEIGHTS Recommenudations: That the City of Port Coquitlam request School District No. 43 to approve a temporary bus turn-around on the School property located in the northeast corner of Citadel Drive and Confederation Drive. Background & Comments: On Tuesday, February 26, 1991, I attended a meeting with Planners from BC Transit, and Kevin. Smith of Genstar to discuss the possibilities of constructing a temporary bus turn~around in Citadel Heights so that BC Transit can extend bus service into that area, BC Transit stated that there are plans to provide bus service along the full length of Citadel Drive from Pitt River Road to Mary Hill Road as soon as the western part of Citadel is constructed. In the interim, BC Transit: would be willing to provide bus service into Citadel Heights provided that a turn-around is constructed to BC Transit's requirements. (See attached Bus Turning Radius Standard.) Four alternate transit turn-arounds were considered as shown on the attached plan. The turn-arounds at Castle Crescent and Palisade Crescent were not considered desirable because of sharp turns and the bus noise that would effect the local residents. The turn-around No. 4 at the end of Citadel Drive near Capital Court would not be suitable because there would he ongoing construction interference and traffic from trades working in the area. The temporary turn-around location No. 2, at the future school site at the northeast corner of Citadel Drive and Confederation Drive appears suitable for the following reasons: . .
