THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM . MEMORANDUM FEB TO: B. Kirk, January 28, 1982 City Administrator FROM: F.E. Peters, City Engineer SUBJECT: Possible Drainage Improvements Public Works Committee, January 26th, 1982 RECOMMENDATION: 1. That the old Dominion Avenue Pump Station not be reconnected to B.C. Hydro lines. 2. That a portable electric generator with sufficient capacity to operate the Dominion Avenue Pump Station be purchased with funds to come from the Sewer Utility. 3. That the Laurier Avenue Pump Station not be constructed in 1982. 4. That the funds budgeted in 1982 for major drainage works be used to complete the culvert across Burns Street and to clean the Cedar ditch from Prairie Avenue to the Cedar Pump Station. - BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS; A report from the City Engineer on drainage problems during the flooding of October 31st was presented to Council on November 16th, 1981. Council requested that the Public Works Committee review the report and make recommendations regarding improvements which could be undertaken in 1982. One of the questions that was raised by Council was whether or not it would be worthwhile to hook up the oid pump station again. Service to this pump station was disconnected by B.C. Hydro when the new pump station was made operational because B.C. Hydro is not able to provide two separate services and because the new pumps operate at a different voltage than the old pump. At the time that the decision was made for the new pumping station, Council decided to add the second pump in the new pumping station as an alternative to trying to keep the old pump station active. To get a new B.C. Hydro connection 18
