Alderman Wright gave an explanation of the Family Division Committee budget. Alderman Mabbett stated in his opinion the budget should be discussed at the next City Council Budget meeting on March 12th, 1979. Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Wright: That the request from the School District No. 43 Joint Family Division Committee, February 22nd, 1979 for approval of their 1979 budget of $800.00 based on the Simon Fraser Cost Sharing Formula and the provision that the Committee be allowed to spend up to an amount of $200.00 per time without prior Municipal Council approval be referred to the City Council Budget discussions on March 12th, 1979 for consideration. Carried. From Mr. P. Hermkens, 568 Dominion Avenue, March ist, 1979 regarding ‘ Mr. P. Hermkens, : his request to the Engineering Department for two water connections, one 568 Dominion Ave. : Mar. 1/79 re ! »Water Connections! ' metered and one without a meter, and requesting to appear before Council Mr. Hermkens spoke to Council stating that he was not using the water for his business as he was no longer running a greenhouse and therefore only required water for personal use in the house. Alderman Ranger gave clarification of By-law No. 991 regarding the use of water meters. Alderman Keryluk stated in his opinion it would probably be less expensive to have one water line than two water lines. Mr. Hermkens stated upon doing his own Survey he found residential water use on a meter would cost approximately $120.00 per year instead of the flat rate of $60.00 per year. Alderman Mabbett stated the Public Works Committee has done research and have found the City wat usage by residences is PES EAS ee approximately $60.00 per year. Alderman Kery uk stated in his opinion the By-law Officer should do an on-site inspection and a report’ be brought back to Council before a decision is made. Moved by Alderman Keryluk: Seconded by Alderman Wright: Thet the request for two water connections by Mr. Hermkens, 568 Dominion Avenue, March Ist, 1979 be deferred until further on~site inspection is done by the By-law Officer and the Works & Utilities Superintendent and a report brought back to Council. Defeated. Aldermen Keryluk and Wright voted in favour of the resolution.
