SUBJECT: Arena rates for

tournaments and special events during
ice season
Council has asked that we look at our present policy on
tournament rates during the ice season. Identified below is our
present policy:
Minor Hockev

Full rate on statutory holidays
Provincial or national championships fee
PoCo Old Timer's Rockev Tournament (adult)
50% of hourly ice rental rate
full hourly rate during statutory holidays
It should also be noted that room rental rates for the above
events are also waived.
Please find attached information on our revenue lost with the
various tournaments. Outlined below is a review of how other
municipalities handle their particular functions.

Ninor Hockey

They have two tournaments per year. They
are charged the full rate which is; prime
$ 30.00

per hour, non-prime $ 22.00 per hour.

They used to have a 50% policy but that has
now disappeared.
They do have the opportunity to ask for a
waiver but Council has denied this for the

past 3 years.

They are charged the same rate as Minor
Hockey for their carnival. They also face
an additional cost of $ 100.00 per day for
set up and $ 150.00 per day for set-up on
day of event.
They are charged the same rate as Ninor
Hockey.

Figure Skating

Ringette

They presently have two tournaments. The
charge is the regular rate which is $ 80.00

Adult Hockey

per hour.

Minor Hockey

They are restricted to three tournaments
per year. The rates that they are charged

They are charged the commercial rate, which
is $ 89.00 per hour.
They have one carnival and one test day.
Non to Fri before 6:00pm $ 13.50 per hour
Non to Fri after 6:00pm $ 27.00 per hour

deals to the extent we do. I would suggest that we go slowly
increasing the rates for our organizations and furthermore that
any increase not be effective until January 1, 1987. Presently
all organizations have set their budgets for 1986 and an increase
