Old Age Pensioners Branch 37) was held June 8 with 64 members pre- sent. The following new members were introduced: Maureen -Mercieau,; Mi- guel Aguirre, Joyce Baker and Bertha Watmough. A minute silence was observed in honour of Bill! Kennedy who recently passed away. Betty Demmitt remin- ded members that tickets have been issued for the Senior’s Lottery to be held on August 15. She remin- ded members and anyone who purchases these tick- ets to make the cheque out to O.A.P.A. Branch 37 as the branch receives a re- fund if a certain number of tickets are purchased in the name of the branch. Betty and Barbara Nei- son have agreed to orga- nize a float for Riverboat Days. The branch will also host a pancake breakfast on July 8. There is an open house al the Corrections Centre on June 16. The annual picnic at Rene Cox’s at Lakelse Lake will take place July 29. Mary Ann will again host a barbecue at her place on Braun’s Is- land 0 on August 19, w Liberation remembered ROYAL CANADIAN Legion colour party frames veterans Bill McRae and Sandy Sandhals at a special ceremony June $ at the cenotaph. The cer- amony was held to commemorate the liberation of Holland and was timed to coincide wiih the Legions’ annual D-Day dinner. Candles from Holland were placed by veterans and young people to honour those from this area who were killed in the wars and to honour RCMP officers, fire- fighters and other members of various services who died in the line of duty, By having young people involved, the Legion hopes they become more aware of past events and the sacrifices made by others. The tickels for our Fall Bazaar will be available in the middle of July. Our June potluck dinner will lake place on June 28.
