WASHINGTON (AP) — The
U.S. population of 216 million
persons Is growlng older and
expanding more slowly than It
did a year ago, the Census Bu-
reau sald Tuesday.

The bureau sald the median
age of the population jumped
from 27.9 years In 1970 to 29.0 In
1976.

And it reported that the U.S. .
population of 216 million was
only 1.6 milllon—or .7- per
cent—more in January 1977
than in January 1976,

mainland. The following

“Parents in Crisis” manual
from Vancouver,

90 percent of abusive
parents were abused
themselves as children. It is
important to remember,
however, that a person need
not have been physically
abused in order to become a
physical abuser as a parent,

deprivation can be, and are,
as damaging to the human
psyche as is physical abuse.

rights commission says he fears
the danger of physical vioience
