A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chamber, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2272 McAllister Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B.C. on June 29th, 1981 at 7:30 p.m. His Worship Mayor G.R. Laking, Aldermen M.D. Gates, J.J. Keryluk, E.W. Mabbett, A.K. Muldoon, L.M. Traboulay and M.R. Wright in attendance. Also in attendance were Acting~City Clerk J.G.S. Maitland, City Engineer F.E. Peters, P. Eng., Assistant City Engineer T. Chong, Fire Chief W.S. Wingrove, Planning Consultant A. Phillips, Works & Utilities Superintendent G.W. Ulmer and Mrs. D.L. Vyse. TRIBUTE TO TERRY FOX: Tribute to His Worship Mayor G.R. Laking asked that two minutes silence be Terry Fox: observed in memory of Terry Fox, Canada's Marathon of Hope Runner, who passed away on Sunday, June 28th, 1981. Mayor Laking advised Terry Fox was from the City of Port Coquitlam and that during his Marathon of Hope he raised over $23 million dollars for cancer research. Carried. DELEGATIONS: Delegations: His Worship Mayor G.R. Laking introduced Inspector G.J. Davis of the Coquitlam R.C.M.P. Detachment and advised Inspector Davis will be Insp. G.J. Davis re leaving the Detachment shortly. Inspector Davis then introduced Inspector staff Changes. E.L. Naaykens and Inspector R.G. Bell and advised that Inspector Naaykens will be promoted to Superintendent for this area and that Inspector Bell will be in charge of operations for the Coquitlam Decachment. His Worship Mayor G.R. Laking introduced Mrs. K. Dolker who then Mrs. K. Dolker : re Spraying - spoke on behalf of the concerned residents of Port Coquitlam regarding Herbicides & Pesticides. the spraying of herbicides and pesticides on City school yards and parks. Mrs. Dolker ‘introduced Mrs. Kathy Fox, Executive Director of Central SPEC and advised Mrs. Fox wished to address the Council.
