April 14th, 1980. A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chambers, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2272 McAllister Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B.C. on April 14th, 1980 at 7:30 p.m. His Worship Mayor G.R. Laking, Aldermen M.D. Gates, J.J. Keryluk, E.W. Mabbett, P.F. Ranger, L.M. Traboulay and M.R. Wright in attendance. Also in attendance were Chief Administrative Officer L.D. Pollock, City Clerk R.A. Freeman, City Engineer F.E. Peters, P. Eng., Assistant City Engineer L. Melnechenko, P. Eng., City Planner L. Lee, City Treasurer J.G.S. Maitland, Fire Chief W.S. Wingrove, Deputy Fire Chief J.N. Boileau, Works & Utilities Superintendent G.W. Ulmer and Mrs. D.L. Vyse. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Moved by Alderman Keryluk: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That the minutes of the regular meeting of this Council held on Minutes: March 31/80 March 3lst, 1980 be taken as read and adopted. Carried. DELEGATIONS: His Worship Mayor G.R. Laking introduced Coquitlam District Mayor GVRD Planning Comm. re Amend. J.L. Tonn, Chairman of the Greater Vancouver Regional District's Planning of Lower Main- land Regional Committee, and two representatives of the G.V.R.D. Fanning Staff, Mr. Plan. K. Cameron and Mr. P. George who were present to answer Council's questions concerning the proposed draft of the new Lower Mainland Regional Plan and focusing on the properties in the triangle bounded by the Lougheed Highway, Dominion Avenue, and the Pitt River that were included in the Agricultural Land Reserve and were proposed to be designated "Agricultural" in the Regional Plan - a change from the present designaticn of "Industrial Reserve". Mayor Laking stated that as the discussion this evening was intended to be primarily between the Council and the G.V.R.D. representatives he would only be permitting one member of the audience to speak in favour of an Agricultural designation for the triangle and one other person to speak in favour of Industrial designation. Aldermen Ranger and Wright stated that in their opinion a greater number of people in the gallery than this should be permitted to speak on the sub,ect. Alderman Traboulay stated his agreement with the proposal of Mayor Laking.
