Dear Sir:

At the rejular meeting of the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the
City of Port Coguitlen held on Nay 2&th, 1973 ifr. RX. Letgiton cf the
Departmint of Tecreation & Conservation, Fish ard Wilclife Branch and

Br. Ue Lurrew, Listrict Protection Ufficer, Lepartuent of Fisherics &
Forestry, were in attendance in response to prior arrencerents mave with
them to speak to the apparent lack of enforcement of the various Fish and
Mildlife regulations in the Lower “ainland and in particular, in tha Cocuit-
dea area, end at thet tice both Mr. Leighton and Mr. Lurrow aprced that the
problem results from insufficient manpower, cspecially curing peuk periods.
After a brief discussion, the Council then passed tie Itcllowing resolucion:

“Thet a letter be sent to The Henourable J. Radford, Provincial Minister of
Recreation & Censervatlon, and to The Honourable Jact. Lavis, Federal Minister
for the invircnorent, Steting that wiereas the protection and crersence of
wildlife resourcea is a sound investment; therefore, tiie Punicipsl Council

of Tne Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam urfes tiat The }.onourable
Ministers consider hiring adequate staff to enforce the various reculations
fer the protection of our awindling fish and wildlife resources.”
