STATUS OF APPLICATION TO LIQUOR CONTROL AND LICENSING BRANCH The applicant has submitted a formal application to the Liquor Control and Licensing Branch through their Surrey officas. Thie application has now been reviewed and reierred to the Victoria offices for a decision. Upon receiving this application the Surray Office contacted the Planning Department of tha Clty of Port Coquitlam advising that it would be appropriate, under the circumstances (the fire that affected the establishment) for Port Coquitlam to proceed immediately with consideration of this application. Under norma! circumstances, to avoid local govermments wasting time in applications that may not receive support from the Liquor Control and Licensing Branch, the Branch recommends that lecal government do not deal with Licensed Establishments Applications until the Branch has granted pretiminary approval. DISCUSSION: The Planning Department had recommended that Council proceed with this application on the basis of Section 21 Division 5, (c) as deacrived above. At Council Meeting of November 14, 1894 several Council members express their concam regarding the lack of a public consultation process. It would be appropriate, therafere that the Public Hearing be held to satisly the nesd for public consultation.
