Re: F.C.M. Convention.

This past week I attended the F.C.M. Conference in Regina. Arriving on
Saturday night, on Sunday we held a B.C. ~ Yukon meeting. It was art this
meecing that we came together and worked very ealosely to nominate someone

from B.C. to an executive position o§ which Dorcen Lawson was elected third
V.cee-President. Had this not happened at this time the indication was we
would be another three to four years before we could have someone ta ACPtCsendt
B.C. on the exceutive. With the massive growth in the West and the préine
part of the economy of the country now betng <n the West. In my opinion,

On Monday the day was spent on discussions on the constitution. In my opinion,
this was a total waste of time as $itst off the question of the constitution
has been beat to death. We now have to wait for tne courts to decide

whether the decisions of the Federal government are Legal on not. The

past months and months re have. heard nothing but the constitution to

whieh T feel too much time has been Apent. Too Little time has been

Spent on the great need to Look at what we can do on the economy curd

anglation in our country which to the average person 48 far more dmoortant.

T feck very strongly that Monday was a waste of time, ;

Tuesday, and part of Wednesday was Spent on energy conservation. On

Tuesday morning we had a ver 4 Large panek of experts of which were very
knowledgeable people in their freed but when we come to nuckear energy,
fusion, massive coal generating and this type of thing 4t 4s beyond the

average muntetpatdty and the average City as we have the very laige
government hydro profects which Look aster this. Therefore, T felt
sincerely that Tuesday morning was also a waste of time. Tuesday afternoon
we broke up into workshops with the Lange cities and municipalities .in
one ghoup and the smaller municipatities and cities tn another. A

great deal of discussion tock place, some of the panel had some excellent
ddeas, but altogether 1 feel it wis not a good put-together workshop to
redkky get down to the nuts and bolts ef how energy eauld be conserved.

not affoad to set up our oun power generatoig system.
