Alderman Phil Ranger Chairman Planning and Zoning Committee Port Coquitlam City Council 2272 McAllister Port Coquitlam, B.C. RE: POCO VALLEY GOLF COURSE STATUS REPORT Dear Alderman Ranger, This report has been prepared for two primary reasons. First, to provide you, Mayor Jack Campbeli, other members of Council, and appropriate administrative personnel on staff, of the prevailing status of this public recreation facility presently maintained, in part, on iands owned by the Municipality of Port Coquitlam. Secondly, to suggest and solicit response to several options for action that might be considered by the Council in the best interests of the people of Port Coquitlam. | believe that the Council has been apprised of most of the historical background of the PoCo Valley Golf Course project. Since the enterprise was placed in receivership by Court Order in August of 1976, Mr. Banns, staff members at Touche, Ross and Company, and the writer have vigorously persued the following activities in an attempt to alleviate the growing indebtedness to the Bank of Montreal, the original lender for various stages of golf course construction: 1. Generate new revenue sources in the building by opening the course to general public use and public playing membership operating philosophies. 2. Generate new revenue in the building by opening a new dining and dancing lounge on the second floor of the building. Generate new potential revenue sources by attracting tennis players to the ultimate utilization of the facility and proposed year round tennis surfaces.
