January 17th, 1977 covering Statutory Holidays; however, Mayor Campbell stated he felt it was the responsibility of the Council to find ways to reduce costs. Alderman Ranger again expressed concern that garbage collection would not be made until Monday where a Statutory Holiday falls on the previous Friday, and the City Engineer advised that it was intended to have pick- up on Saturdays in such situations, as employees would receive only double-time pay as opposed to triple-time pay for working on a Statutory Voliday. This aspect was later discussed under "New Business" and a correction given regarding the hourly rate payable. From the Public Works Committee, January 11th, 1977, advising of a request received for construction of a sidewalk on Pooley Avenue between Eastern Drive and Pitt River Road, and recomme:.ding that as there is very little possibility of funds being approved from General Revenue therefore, a gravel and limestone path be constructed with funds from the Boulevard Maintenance Account. Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Thompson: That as recommended in a report from the Public Works Committee, January llth, 1977, a gravel and limestone path be constructed on Pooley Avenue between Eastern Drive and Pitt River Road, and that the funds required therefore be taken from the Boulevard Maintenance Account. From the Building & Protection Committee, January 14th, 1977, advising of a request received from a resident living at 2311 St. George Street to have the street name changed, as the resident's mail has been directed to the same address in Port Moody, and recommending, in view of the Citv's policy to avoid identical street names used in adjacent municipalities, that St. George Street be re-named "Rowland Street".
