MEMORANDUM TO; Mayor and Council January 31, 1980. FROM: Environmental Protection Committee wren ee ee Community Care Facilities Licence The committee has received a request from the New Westminster Society for the Retarded, that a home at 3459 Jervis Street be approved for a Community Care Facility licence, to care for five retarded children in the six to twelve age group. This application comes under the Personal Care Home category and therefore requires Council's approval. Last year Council set a policy covering licencing procedure for ‘Personal Care Homes which involves the applicant canvassing the area is to inform the residents of the exact — nature of the proposed home and to ask any questions they might have on the operation. The Environmental Protection Committee is prepared €o recommend that the licence application be approved subject to the applicant doing the required survey in the area. If the Council agrees with the licence approval the Committee will instruct the app}icant to Proceed with the canvass and the information will be reported back to the next meeting of Council, Piggery Regulation By-Law In other business tie Committee discussed proceeding with the By-law to control Piggery operations. The Committce will be reviewing a draft by-law and will have a meeting with the Piggery operators to review the draft before it ig presented te Council.
