Buchan, AA.C.I., CMeAL, City Assessor March 17th, 1972, ASSESSMENT DEPARTMENT REPORT Court of Revision: et evisions The 1972 Court of Revision was held on January 31st, February 8th and 9th. Tke Court heard 32 appeals and 15 aesessors appeals: 25 were confirmed, 2 withdrawn, 18 reduced (including adjacent properties affected by the appeal), and one recommendation to reduce an improvement assessment was granted. The assessors appeals were ail granted with the exception of one, which was the result of a fire that occurred on the 13th of January, 1972. The Assesenent Dept. requested the removal of this dwelling from the assessment roll because of fire damage and the property being of non~conforming use, due to lack of sewers and sideyard requirements. The Court rejected the appeal on the grounds that the building was on the property as of December 3is$, 1971, Legislative closure Gate of the Assessment Roll. The Appeal Board aiso handed dom a Similar decision in 1971 on a similar case in Burnaby which was conforzing to zoning requirements, AS a result of the Court, there are two appeals going to the Appeal Beard, One residential and the one from the fire previously discussed. The date of the sitting of the Appeal Board has not been established at this time. Reassessnent Procran: —— ee EEA . As of December 3ist, 1971 our reassessment progras ‘is Progressing very well with Phase 4 to be completed this year, This will complete the four year phase of reassessment. Conmencing in 1973, Phase 1 will be rewinspected, Each year one of the four phases will be inspected and reassessed. Cozsuter: The computer installation regarding the assessment function is progressing 8S per plan. Preliminary plans indicate that "there will be talks on the following topies:- The Provincial Building Code, including the Adopting By-Law, the Revised Plumbing Cede, and plans for a Provincial Appeal Board. The Education of Building Inspectors in other parts of Canada, with respect to the use of the 1970 N.B.c. Inspection of Factory Built Homes.
