To: The Mayor and Council From: Mr. L.D. Pollock, City Administrator. R.C.M.P. Staff: When I last reported to Council regarding R.C.M.P. staff in connection - with additional men for the Identification branch, I mentioned that cur actual request for manpower for 1972 was uncertain. Our files did not contain a record of any Council discussion on this Matter and it was my understanding that two men had been requested. I have now determined that the submission from the local detachment requested three and one-third additional members for 1972, however, no resolution of Council was passed confirming this request. The R.C.M.P. have requested that we now officially accept this number. The additional three and one-third men will bring our total detachment Strength up to nineteen and two~thirds members. Our 1972 Budget has been based on nineteen and one-third so that an additional one-third will have to be added for a portion of the year. This detachment strength will give us a force of approximately one man per thousand of population. If Council is in agreement a resolution should be passed confirming accept~ ance of the increuse in manpower. 2. Justice Building Construction: Doug. Reed, the Solicitor for the District of Czquitlam, has informed me ‘that tenders have been received for the landscaping at the new Justice Building. Three tenders were received: T.G. Dinesen Landscaping Ltd. ~ $12,447.00 Envirotectural Services Ltd. - 9,726.00 Four Seasons Landscaping Co. Ltd. - 5,786.00 Reed has recommended the acceptance of the low bidder. He has checked with contracts and architects who have used the services of the low bidder and they have all stated that he is capable of carrying out this work. A resolution of Council would be in order confirming this tendec award. Assessment Department Report: Attached is a report from the City Assessor concerning some of the activity in the Assessment Department. The Assessor submitted periodic reports during 1971 to Council and this is a continuation of this practice. 4. Building Inspector's Conference: Attached is a copy of the notice received concerning the 1972 Building Inspector's Association conference. Nick Chernoff ha3 attended this conference in Past years and I would recommend that he be permitted to attend and that his ex penses be paid.
