The latest victim is James Denby, who collapsed at the steering wheel of his bus in Burnaby last Sunday. Six pas- sengers were injured when the bus ran off the road and smashed into a telephone pole in the 550 block East Hastings. A witness at the coroner’s inquest testified that Denby had complained of ill health shortly before the fatal acci- dent. The deceased bus driver said he was not feeling well Bus drivers‘ deaths at wheel blamed on speedup, traffic and blamed his condition on the tension from driving through heavy fog. Denby was the third opera- tor to die at the wheel of a bus this year. Spokesman for the union blame the “nerve- wracking” traffic conditions of downtown Vancouver for these deaths. They point out that traffic in the main business areas is increasing by 10 per- cent a year.
