Re: Canada Assistance Plan - Funding to Municipalities

On behalf of the District of Surrey Council, lam writing to point out that
inequities in the allocation of CAP funding to municipalities has resulted in

significant discrepancies and should be reviewed with the intent to achieve the
following:

(a) improved information to municipalities regarding the CAP program
and access opportunities; and

(b) an equitable approach to supporting community services at the local
level without penalizing municipalities currently receiving CAP
&- ;

Enclosed for your assistance is a copy of the report which Council considered
and discussed at its meeting of January 4, 1993

In these days of increased costs to all levels of government, I would urge you
to favourably consider the above suggestions.
