To: Mayor and Courcil April 7, 1972, From: L.D. Pollock, City Administrator | 0 A APR 10 1972 i. Sanitary Sewer Connection for Oxbow Ranch Area The attached letter has been received from the District of Coquitlam requesting Council's consideration of a sewer connection to service the Oxbow Ranch area. The City Engineer has briefly considered this request from the point of view of the capacity of the existing sewer lines in the area. The District has not provided us with any specific information on the flow that could be expected from the proposed development to enable Staff to report on this request, nor have we investigated the effect of granting such a connection on our pollution control permit. Council may wish to discuss the. principal of serving outside of our boundaries before a Sreat deal of work and investigation is carried out on the technical aspects of the problem. If Council wishes the matter pursued further, perhaps it could be referred to the Public Works Committee for further investigation and discussion with the District of Coquitlam. 2. Parks and Recreation Conference We have notiffction that the 1972 conference of the National Recreation and Parks Association will be held in Vancouver from April 30 to May 3, 1972. Clyde Griffith has attended this conference in the past and I would recommend that he be authorized to attend and that his expenses be paid. In view of the fact that the conference is located in Vancouver this year, the City Engineer has requested that John Gore be authorized to attend also. Some of the sessions involve discussions on facility design, park planning, and tours. of various facilities; and as the Engineering Department: are directly involved in construction and maintenance of the City facilities, it might be beneficial to have an Engineering representative attend.
