THE CORPORATION OF THE C/TY OF PORT COOUITLAM Financial Imolications: At the current time, without program being established, financial implicationstheof operating the four alternatives are difficult to determine. It is safe to presume that hiring a food servi.ces worker will increase our costs but that should be some cost saving resulting from the more efficientthere purchase and use of goods. Citizen/Public Relations Involvement/Imolications: It is anticipated that the are most interested in "value for money". As long as we citizens are able to provdie some services in the most efficient manner, then the average citizen will be satisfied. Wilson Centre membership will be much more difficult to Some members want a full kitchen service, while others want just a limited The satisfy. service. Other major point of consideration the alternatives is that we start small and slowly.whenAt reviewing the present time, a program for the kitchen facility has not been established, are we sure what the reaction will be to food services in nor general. All of the senior centres reviewed to date have undergone some sort of development cr growth, regard to their level of service. It is anticipated thatwith this is desirable'nd healthy, allowing the organization to move in the of greatest demand. This also allows the organizationdirection the opportunity develop procedures, to learn about the equipment, to review toin detail various opez sting methods, etc. The Food Services Committee has also requested a meeting with the Parks A Recreation Committee to discuss the food services operation. The C on c 1 u sion ." completion of the expanded Centre nears, our planning turns to operationalizing the Wilson facility'nd, in particular, the kitchen facility. Although there sre a variety of operating alternatives, only one sakes real sense at the current paint of time in our development of the operating program. As THE CORPORATION OF THE CiTY OF PORT COQVIYLRM Administratively, the most feasible alternative is to have the existing staff coordinate the membership in providing a part-time food service. Prior to making a decision on this matter, it is suggested we receive the comments fr om the Food Services Committee. Recommendationsr 'I. That a representative of the Food Services Committee be invited to the next Parks A Recreation Committee to present their comments regarding the operation of meeting the kitchen facility. 2. That staff prepare a program operating plan. Larry J. Wheeler, Acting Parks Recreation Director. Ik L JW/bII JUL p t t987
