Sea fog aN iM gs 4 od a eo cn CTH Terrace Review — Wednesday, January 16, 1991 B13 Musical runs out of touring funds The board of directors of Gryphon Theatre of Barrie, Ontario has sadly announced the cancella- tion of Gordon Pinsent’s "A GIFT TO LAST - THE MUSICAL" which was to debut at the R.E.M. Lee Theatre on Friday, Feb. 8. Terrace & District Arts Council president Barb Kenney reported on Monday that Gryphon Theatre has cancelled their Canadian tour from Thunder Bay to Prince Rupert, citing lack of funds as the reason. "A GIFT TO LAST - THE MUSICAL" began their Canadian tour, sponsored by the Canada Council Touring Section and Radio Shack, with five weeks of engage- ments throughout Ontario. "A GIFT TO LAST - THE MUSI- CAL" received highest praise from audiences and critics in perfor- mances in every community. In Terrace, it was being co-sponsored by the Terrace & District Arts Council and the Terrace Concert Society. Gryphon’s board of directors report that all their funds were spent during their Ontario tour and they have no other resources with which to fulfill their contractual obligations. Each community in which the theatre troupe was sche- duled to play dealt with agents, one of whom seems to have used it already for expenses. Barb Kenney assures patrons who have bought tickets for "A GIFT TO LAST" that they will be refunded at the earliest possible date. See next week’s Terrace Review for further details.
