SUBJECT: Save Georgia Strait Alliance
(Environmental Protection Committee Meeting July 31, 1990)

RECOMMENDATION :

That Council endorse the activities of the Save Georgia Strait Alliance in
their efforts to improve the environment of the Georgia Strait as described in
the attached correspondence dated July 3, 1990, and that the Alliance be so
advised.

BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:

The Environmental Protection Committee has reviewed the attached
correspondence from the Save Georgia Strait Alliance which is a recently
formed coalition determined to clean up the environment of the Georgia Strait.
The Alliance is seeking endorsement of their activities and projects,
donations, and participation in their Nanaimo to Sechelt marathon. The
Committee is not in favour of donating funds to the Alliance. However, it is
recommended that Council endorse their projects as requested.
