SUBJECT: School Board Construction Schedules

RESOLUTIONS:

1) That the City of Port Coquitlam consider withholding building permits until the
Provincial Government honors their commitment to release ds for schocl

construction in School District #43.

2) That the City of Port Coquitlani investigate, in conjunction with the School Board,
avenues for levying a school development charge on new construction.

Port Coquitlam hasn't had a senior secondary school built since 1973 (20 years) and a
junior secondary school since 1978 (15 years), Considering our growth statistics (see
attached chart) you can clearly see how acute the situation has become. The Provincial
Government must release construction funds immediately.

Below is a list of Port Coquitlam schools affected by the refusal of the province to release |
capital funds.

SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS

1) Riverside (South PoCo) - Reeve Street
Scheduled completion was Septernber 1994
Scheduled completion now January 1996++ (probably even further)

2) Terry Fox (Riverwood) |
Scheduled completion was September 1994
Scheduled completion now September 1997++

BLEMENTARY:
1) Citadel Heights - (School District owns property)
