eon GCOUNC! APR 3 1978 Mayor and Council March 3lst, 1978 L.D. Pollock City Administrator Re: Seminar and Conference Approvals 1. B.C. Water and Waste Association Conference The B.C. Water and Waste Association Conference will be held in Victoria April 9th to the 12th, 1978. A copy of the preliminary programme is attached. I note that the Solid Waste portion of the pregramme deals with a number of pertinent items in connection with Garbage Collection. We felt that this programme would be of interest to our Assistant Engineer just to keep in touch with new methods. The cost of the Conference and Solid Waste Seminar is $85.00 and the normal per diem expenses would apply. I would recommend that the Assistant Engineer, Mr. Melnechenko, be authorized to attend and that his expenses be paid. 2. B.C. Fire Chiefs' College The B.C. Fire Chiefs' College is being held this year in Powell River, May 8th to 12th, 1978 inclusive. The Fire Chief has asked for permission to attend this Conference as he has done in the past. Costs of registration for the Conference is $25.00 and he would be paid normal per diem expenses. I would recommend that Bill Wingrove be authorized to attend this Conference and his expenses be paid. 3. Canadian Fire Investigation School The Fire Chief has received notification that there will be a Fire Investigation School at Parksville, September 25th to 29th, 1978. ‘The Chief would like to send our Fire Prevention Officer, Ross Dunbar, to this Seminar as he has been involved in the past in the Fire Prevention Officers’ Association. The cost of registration for this School is $35.00 and the normal per diem expenses would zpply. The School has a limited number of openings and therefore the Fire Chief would like to get Ross's registration in early. He has therefore asked that Council give this request consideration at this time. I would recommend that approval be granted for Ross Dunbar to attend the School and that his expenses be paid. om * ot woe ae oe L.D. Pollock
