‘That as recommended in a veport fran the Parks & Recreation romittee,
February 8th, 1973, the architectural firm of carlberg, Jackson Partners be enga-
ged to prepare drawings and specifications for the proposed Lacrosse Box at the
George Pearkes Junior Secondary School at a cost not to exceed $1,260.00. Carried.

| Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, a discussion ensued, and the
City Engineer advised that the firm of Carlberg, Jackson Partners was selected on
the basis of work recently done for the District ef Coquitlam “in designing two
lacrosse boxes, Alderman Thompson inquired: whether or net there would be provi-
sion for lighting in the lacrosse box design, and the’ City Engineer advised ‘this
would be included in the cost; however, the advantages of lighting have beeri
questioned. Alderman Meyer advised the Committee intended to conduct a complete
review of lighting for the lacrosse box and a recommendation thereon submitted to

Council.

‘Alderman Meyer advised that from the point of view of the Health conmittee,
the proposal is very desirable. Alderman Ranger inquired whether or not the
Church would be non-conforming after the required ‘zoning change, and the city
Administrator advised that the Church.is non-conforming at the present time as
it is not zoned P-2 (Special Institutional); however, “the P-2 zone would accom-
medate the use intended.

Mrs. J. Cassettari was present on: behalf of the Formation Committee fer the
proposed Pre-School in the Mary Hill-aréa; and on invitation of His Worship the :
Mayor, spoke to the meeting and advised that the facility. ‘is net a Day.Care. Centre,
but a non-profit making, parent-participation pre- school. operating in the 1 morn-
iogs only, for 243 hour sessions, and that regulations. governing Licensing for Day
Care facilities are somewhat different from those that apply to a pre-school
operation. The City Administrator advised ‘that. the: Church is intending to. make

some alterations; | however a permit cannot be issued until itis: Properly zoned.
