Scouts looking for help A LACK OF SUPPORT from parents has shut down the last of a Thornhill scout- ing group, Two years ago the Thorn- hill group had divisions for scouts, beavers and cubs, Then last year only enough volunteers could be found to form a beaver colony. And now this year the entire group has been shut down. The youths from this group have been amal- gamated into’ surviving beaver colonies in Terrace. There’s still plenty of kids . interested in joining scouts, says ex-district = com- missioner Rob Onstein. But ing. AL a recent registration, 115 kids signed up for scouts. And Onstein says: that number will grow as the year goes on. Registrations are down somewhat from last year, § but last year was unusual in that it saw a 140 per cent in- crease in kids signing up. Help is also needed on an- other front. There’s an im- portant volunteer position which needs to be filled this fi year — that of district com- missioner. Onstein resigned his post due to family obli- gations, and no one has stepped forward yet to fill the gap. You don’t even have to be ime a current scouting volunteer, said Onstein, Someone who was active in scouting years ago, and who has good people and management skills, would be appropriate. For more information, call Onstein at 635-7187 or 635- 9089, can't breathe, - nothing else matters. « HRMS COLUMMIA LUNG ASSOCIATION 737-LUNG of 1-900-665-LUNG 747 Air Cadets Sponsoring Socie Tickets Available at 0) Terrace Volunteer Bureau Mohawk (open 24 hrs) Gemma’s Bed & Bath Boutique End Of The Rall Central Gifts Skeena Mall |Open House Every Saturday 11-4 | Reserved tickets can be picked up at the Volunteer Bureau located on the 4600 block next to Hava Java.
