Last year (1973-74) the Squadron had camp-vuls in the fall and inthe spring. They had a Hallowe'en Dance. a Christmas Party. familiarization flights over the local area, a Sports Day in Kilimat and several rifle shooting competitions. Then, too, they had a magnificent trip io Chilliwack over the Easter week-end. There each cadet - boy and girl - received a glider flight. (and training) and a ‘familiarization flight in an Lid tow plane or a Cesna 180. On, their relurn trip they stopped off at Harrison Hol Springs for a swim. 7 During (he summer vacation 9 Cadets altended Summer Camp ai Penhold, Alberta, one of them - Hobert Cline remaining a further 2 week's to allend an N.C.O. course. Twa other Cadets, Matthew Vaal Henke and Chris Schooner altended Band School al Ver~ non, They won the awards of Best ist year Drummer and Best Ist Year Piper. Officer Cadet Murray Hamer allended thesame camp as an instruclor, Two Kaydetles, Ingrid Gellenbeck and Donna Stub- - bins, allended summer cump at Fort Lewis, Washingion U.S.A. from July 22 to August ard. Two N.C.Q,'s - Cpl. Jack Kennedy and Cpl, Paut Johnson attended Gliding School at Nanaimo whilst F-Sgl. Alfred Major allendec a Senior Leaders Course. Al these cadels were flown to their destinations and back, from Terrace Airport at ne cost to themselves. This lask is undertaken by the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No,13, Terrace. The Legion has a Air Cadet Sponsoring Com- mittee composed of Davey Carey (chairperson), Dave Simons, Ernie Halnstock, and Jim Switzer. Jl is the respon- sibility of the Sponsoring Committee ‘lo see that the Squadron has the necessary building for its H.Q. and alsa to see thal the Squadron is sup- plied with all necessary funds, instructors, equipment elc. The Legion has responded magnificently, and munificently, to ihe many calls made upon it from time to lime. The current year (1974-75) purports io be even more in- leresting and challenging. Over the Thanksgiving week-end some 20-25 cadets and kaydetles will be going !o Nanaimo for a glider familiarizalion course. Further activities for October include a Dinner and’Dance for cadels and partsa “Mother and Daughter" and “Father and Son” Rifle Competition and a camp-oul for all cadets. For November, lhere will be 1a Hallowe'en Partly and a Remembrance Day Parade. In December, there will be a Christmas Party, January 1875 will see Winter Sports in progress, February will see another camp-oul. In Marcha. - irip to Penticton for gliding, followed by a journcy to CFB Comox and the CPA Hanger al Vancouver is planned. In April - there will bea furlher camp-oul and various Dominion and Provincial Rifle’ Competilions. For May, an Inter-Cadet Sports Day is planned for Burns Lake. At this meel last year Cpl. Schooner. won .the Cross- Country Run and a plaque for the Squadron, Finally, in June 1975 there will be the Squadron Annual Inspection. At the Annual Inspection various Squadron Awards are presented, In 1974, The Best ° N.C.P. Award, presented by Erwin Jewellers, was won by F- Sgt. Alfred Major.
