Character of Buildings: All buildings, structures, and expansion or additions thereto shall be architecturally coordinated and should be planned in a comprehe. ..ve manner, giving consideration to the relationship between . .idings and open areas, efficiency cf the circulation systems, isual impact and design compatibility with the surrouncing developments. Planning of all buildings subject to Development Permits shall be made with due consideration to the relation between building height, site coverage, yard setbacks and in relation to surrounding properties and streets. Townhouses or apartments shall not back onto public roads. Any fencing along public roads must provide for direct pedestrian access to the residential units by the provision of appropiately designed gates, Siting and Accesses: Where possible vehicular access to Multi-family developments should be achieved from a road other than Westwood Street, or from a rear lane. Commercial Development along Westwood will be encouraged to minimize the amount of front yard parking. Where parking is located in the front yard, appropriate landscaping shali be provided to soften the visual impact of the large parking areas from the road. Residential Development fronting Westwwod will only be encouraged when located in an upper level, above one or two commercial floors. Vehicular access to commercial developments shall not be off Fox Street. Mix use developments shall be designed so as to ensure that appropiate separation between on site commercial and residential vehicular movements exist. Landscaping: Substantial landscaping to screen parking areas from the streets and adjacent residential buildings and interplanting of the parking areas with trees is required. Retention of mature trees to “integrate into the overall landscaping is encouraged. All vegetation used for landscaping shail be mature and of a quality acceptable to the Municipality.
