THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM COUNCIL MEMORANDUM SEP 27 1982 8. Kirk, September 22, 1982 City Administrator FROM: F.E. Peters., P. Eng., City Engineer SUBJECT: Construction of Intersection of Shaughnessy/Wilson/Marpole RECOMMENDATION: That the budget for. the intersection improvements at the Shaughnessy/Wilson/Marpole intersection be increased from $53,000 to $70,000 to allow for reconstruction of some paved areas and that. the additional funds be taken From the Future Capital Reserve. . BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: The design for this intersection improvement has now been completed. It is apparent that some sections of the intersection have to be dug out and completely reconstrueted in order to provide an adequate base for the Pavement overlay. A Final estimate prepared from the detailed design drawings indicates a total expenditure of about $70,000 including the proposed reconstruction and all the necessary curbing, sidewalks, utility relocations, and re~landscaping. As this is $17,600 higher than. our preliminary estimate prepared last year, we will not be proceeding with the work until Council has approved the expenditure of the additional funds. The Treasurer suggests that the additional funds can be allocated from the Future Capital Reserve.’ There will be surpluses in sume of the projects being done this year which will allow replenishment of the Future Capitel Reserve at the end of the year.
