V4G 1B5 Telephone: (604) 946-0978 Fax: (604) 946-9327 June 28, 1994 DESCRIPTION OF UNLOADING OPERATIONS Material will be dredged by clamshell from the borrow area and loaded onto a deck barge where it will be dewatered. The barge when full will be towed to the off-loading site and maintained in position alongside the conveyor barge. The front end loader will load material from the piles of aggregate into a feed hopper which will feed the transfer conveyor mounted on the deck barge. The transfer conveyor will feed the material into a hopper mounted on the conveyor barge and onto the main conveyor. This conveyor will extend over the shoreline to the truck staging area where the material will be loaded into dump trucks. The conveyor barge is not expected to ground at low water, but if x: appears that this occurrence is likely: ° a shallow draft deck barge will be mounted under the conveyor to act as a spill deck, or operations will be suspended. and the conveyor barge moved to deep water until the depth is sufficient. 7 Spillage due to this method is minimized or eliminated by the use of conveyors. and the close moorage between the conveyor barge and the bulkhead and between the deck barge and the conveyor barge. | |
